Wisil makes great start at Qld meet

PAPUA New Guinea female sprinter Toea Wisil made a great start to her 2010 campaign by winning the 200m event in a time of 24:61 at the Queensland championships in Brisbane last weekend.
She also clocked 12:40 seconds in 100m and fourth in the 400m with a very solid 56:44 seconds run.
Wisil, who was with  six other athletes from PNG are in Brisbane for three weeks of intensive training before heading to California on April 2, for six weeks of competition.
PNG Athletics Union president Tony Green said no great times were expected at the championships as the races were merely part of the training programme and the athletes trained through the weekend.
Another runner Salome Dell clocked 2min 11secs in her first 800m race since recovering from injury.
