Hardly a week has passed and the betel nut ban at Boroko in Port Moresby is already making an impression.
Heavy rain in recent days has washed away much of the red stains.
No one was selling betel nut there yesterday.
However, the work to return Boroko to its former glory is far from done.
This pile of barbed wire was left at Hagwa Street, right next to a crossing, and near the Boroko Market roundabout.
This is a busy area, with Coronation Primary School, the market, bus stop and bars close by.
On a positive note, it was nice to see police officers on foot patrol in Boroko, especially near the busy market.
