The Lae-Bukawa road in Labuta, Nawaeb district, Morobe, is in a poor state, making life difficult for farmers, government officials and businesspeople. The road is also used by people from Burum-Kuat and Pindiu, in Finschhafen. It serves two main income projects – the Labuta Cocoa Cooperative Society and the Buhalu Taro Project. The Singaua cattle ranch is also located in the area. When the rivers burst their banks during the wet season, vehicles and people cannot cross. Several sections of the road have lost their gravel surface, leaving only puddles and mud.
