We found this ugly pile of rubbish at East Goroka in front of Seigu Day High School, one of the biggest schools in town.
It is hard to understand how people can so easily throw rubbish into a pile like this and walk away.
Do they look back? Do they ask, Is this a good look?
“We are into the 21st century but people are yet to be realistic in their humanity,” said Imbe Tobby, a security guard at the school, when asked about the rubbish.
Goroka is the capital of Eastern Highlands and should therefore have some level of civic pride and spirit. It is a sizeable town of about 19,000 people and has much going for it – it has an airport, it is on the Highlands Highway and it is home to several national institutions.
It should not be seen as a pile of rubbish.
