When you don’t main buildings you run the risk of fire – ask Radio Morobe.
On Monday, Radio Morobe operations were hit by an electrical short circuit, sending out sparks and smoke that got employees running to safety. Not surprisingly, that was not an isolated incident. An employee said it was common, especially last year. This year, too, has seen cases of heightened risk.
On Tuesday and Friday last week, there were two major incidents while announcer Shirley Walai was on air.
The building opened on Oct 7, 1971. It seems that not much has been done since to keep the building well maintained and safe.
