The Baindoang sub-health centre in Nabak local level government, Nawaeb district, Morobe, has been closed for the last five years, after the Baindoang rural airstrip was closed in December 2009.
Health officials left because there are no proper transport services to transport officials and medical supplies.
There are no health officers working in the village currently.
According to ward four councillor Jack Kino, health officials visit the area twice a month by helicopter.
Most villagers are happy that the airstrip was re-opened last weekend, as they can now access basic health services.
