This is what remains of the cement planter box that was destroyed when a vehicle went off Waigani Drive and crashed into it over the Christmas weekend.
A week ago, we published the picture of the planter box the day after it got bumped into (bottom).
The cement planter boxes were part of the National Capital District Commissions beautification programme.
NCD Governor Powes Parkop last month said those who destroyed light poles and flowers and trees planted as part of beautifying the city will pay for the cost of reinstalling the light poles and replanting the trees and flowers.
So far nothing has been done and the tree is close to dying.
It’s a new year, that tree needs saving.
