The Malai aid post in ward 12, Siassi local level government, in Morobe, serves nearly 600 people in the village but it is currently out of supplies, says community health worker Joshua Kanange.
With strong winds destroying food gardens, causing storm surges and spraying food gardens with salt water, the possibility of diseases outbreak has risen.
The aid post sometimes goes without basic drugs for more than four months and at the moment it cannot support the people it receives who need help.
“When I see that I cannot support the patients with medication, I usually advice them to find other means such as use of herbal medicines,” he said.
