Continuous rain caused a massive landslide on Saturday night blocking off a section of the road at Watabung of Daulo, Eastern Highlands.
Commuters had to be dropped off on either side of the Highlands Highway before they had to catch PMVs to continue their journey.
Yamox Bire, a local man said the landslide occurred between 7pm and 8pm on Saturday after they experienced a small earthquake.
Police were on the scene yesterday to control traffic and movement of people. Due to this unfortunate situation, excavators are needed to remove the lumps of soil and debris that flowed down from the mountain.
Seen here is Stanley Jimmy, a student at the University of Goroka, crossing the blockade with his cargo after travelling from Jiwaka.
