Waste plastic polluting the ocean is a hot topic around the world and in the Pacific.
However, in Papua New Guinea, plastic waste had been seen as a minor issue where people don’t care where their rubbish is dumped or what effects it will have on the environment and its surroundings.
Little attention has been given by the government and relevant authorities in fighting plastic pollution which will eventually be washed out into the sea and will add on to more problems.
Pictured are waste plastic at the Voco Point boat stop in Lae.
The plastic will soon be washed out to the sea as high tide approaches affecting marine life and environment.
