The Erima flyover market is becoming a gathering spot where all city residents flock to for betel nut trading.
Despite numerous awareness by police and NCDC officials regarding the spread of coronavirus, our illiterate community just cant take any heed.
Instead of social distancing, they are practicing social gathering.
Can the authorities apply full force of the law on such stubborn people?

  • It is the same here in Wewak. The authorities are not doing enough to inform and educate people on the importance of social distancing. Our people are very ignorant and irresponsible. The stuborn attitude and mentality need to be change for the better.
Wewak town is overpopulated by squatter settlement dwellers who have moved in from their villages and do not know how to conduct oneself in an urban setting, these are the very people who are velnerable to this Covid 19 pandemic with their dont care attitude and pasin blong ples mentality.

  • Goroka is also worse. People are still selling betel nut and over crowding at Suave market area. Settlers depend on buying and selling betel nut for their living. Because of the SOE, the buai activities have now moved to under ground trading. Some law enforcers are seen buying and chewing buai in public, ol tu kisim buai wer?
