THE River Kum bridge in Western Highlands, built in the 1970s, needs upgrading to avoid being blocked by debris or getting washed away. Pius Piel, 75, from the Moge Kuipii tribe, told The National that during a recent heavy downpour, the bridge submerged underwater with vehicles stranded. The bridge connects Western Highlands and Jiwaka.
