THE defence counsel in the murder case involving Madang businesswoman Catherine Mal, her son and two nephews closed his submissions yesterday.
He called nine witnesses over a two-day period.
Yesterday, defence witnesses Angela Bugatar, Furi Faig and Krubel Ban, could only disclose specific information about their movements from the market area to their homes on the day in question.
Bugatar said: “When you are faced with such a situation you do not have time to look at the watch”.
The other two told the court that they had left the market and were heading home when they saw challenges issued by Kelly Sakel at the junction of the road leading to their villages. They were challenging the Mal male family but did not point out who was there nor what exactly happened resulting in the death of Daga Nanas.
The state closed its case last week.
