MAGISTRATE Cosmas Bidar has committed a man charged with bribery to stand trial in the National Court in Waigani after finding sufficient evidence against him.

Bidar told Walter Lunga from the Kandrian-Gloucester district in West New Britain that he would have to answer to the bribery allegations in the higher court.

The court heard that on

Sept 26 last year at the Boroko Food World in Port Moresby, NCD, Lunga allegedly offered K500 to a policeman.

Bidar said the prosecution alleged that the money was given to bribe the policeman, investigating a case against him, to show him favour.

But Bidar said although Lunga might have had a different intention when giving the money, there was enough evidence to commit the case to the National Court.

He said, however, that it would be up to the public prosecutor whether to pursue the case further.
