HOST West New Britain upset defending champion Morobe, defeating them 17-15 in the final game of Day 3 netball competition at the San Remo Sports Oval precinct yesterday.
The victory now puts WNB into the medal calculation with the last games to be played today.
Sports competition manager Annie Iammo said Central remained undefeated after posting good victories over Northern (36-10) and Madang (51-13) which put them in a good position for medal play-offs.
Other three teams are also in medal contention including the surprise package of the competition, WNB, National Capital District and Morobe.
Iammo said defending champions Morobe needed to beat Milne Bay and also collect free two points from Eastern Highlands on forfeit to consolidate their stakes for medal contention.
Leaders Central’s only obstacle to the gold medal play-off is NCD.
WNB will face Central at noon today.
Iammo said so far the netball competition has been running smoothly despite teams getting easy points from EHP for their late withdrawal from the competition.
