WOLVES had the field smashing their opponents by double fighters in the Port Moresby women’s A grade softball matches played on Saturday.

In the morning game, Wolves led by former PNG representative pitcher Maggie ToBolton thrashed Yokomo 19-3, and later in the midday clash, they smashed Wantoks 10-4.

It was the good batting and fielding that assisted Wolves to come out their shell to be counted as contenders for the 2016 premiership.

Both teams pitched off their first inning with good starts by recording two points apiece at the completion of the opening inning.

Elkavar Eremas and Alice Ono got Wolves in the scorebook before a fatigued Wantoks outfit replied through Winnie Parom and Dona Misikarama.

In the second inning, Anita Kisokau and Maggie ToBolton added the extra two runs while Wantoks failed to collect any runs.

As fatigue took its toll on Wantoks outfit, the John Joseph-coached team with his daughter, Maggie on the pitching mound continued to rake up another five runs to cushion their lead at the top of the third inning.

Wantok, after their hard-fought battle against Stingerz in the early game which they won 10-8, could not match Wolves’ batting power.

Sandra Sawaraba, who still had some energy tried to spark Wantoks with her batting and running, could do little as Wolves scored the final runs to win 10-4.

Wantoks other runs came from Addie Tamti and Winnie Parom.
