AUSTRALIAN police have arrested a woman they suspected of trying to import a commercial quantity of drugs from Papua New Guinea.
According to a Radio Australia report yesterday, the woman identified as Mary Yawari, 40, appeared in the Cairns Magistrates Court yesterday.
She has been remanded in custody until December.
An Australian Federal Police spokesman said it was still unknown who the drugs were for.
They were investigating the case and said more arrests were possible.
Yawari was arrested and charged after customs officers at Cairns Airport in far north Queensland allegedly found four kilograms of methamphetamine in her bag last Saturday.
