Woman allegedly kills her attacker

A WOMAN used the same knife that was used to kill her husband to allegedly murder a teenager who was trying to rape her in Madang on Saturday night, police say.
Madang police commander Supt Mazuc Rubiang said the incident occurred between 11pm and 11.50pm in the Sumgilbar LLG of Sumkar district.
Police identified the deceased as Nathaniel Paya, 34. He and his wife with their seven-month-old baby were camping out at their garden hut at the Basken/Karkum border (Sumgilbar LLG) after a day’s work in the garden.
According Supt Rubiang, the garden hut did not have a door and Paya was sleeping across the entrance and his wife and child at the far-end wall.
He said two people arrived at the hut, one took out a bush knife and allegedly stabbed the deceased through the heart before they escaped.
He said the wife woke up to her husband’s screams, grabbed the baby and a lantern and ran after the suspects in the hope of identifying them. Supt Rubiang said one of the suspects tried to rape her but she grabbed his knife and swung it at him, killing him almost instantly.
Supt Rubiang said the woman acted in self-defence.
He said she then escaped into the nearby bushes with her baby and made her way to Karkum – her husband’s village – at 2am on Sunday.
Supt Rubiang said locals arrived at the garden and found the bodies of Paya and the 15-year-old alleged rapist 200m away from the hut.
He said the other suspect was detained at the Jomba police station in Madang.

Such gruesome murder and attacks are by youth age between 15 – 25 years old. Do health and Police authority know what is the cause??? These perpetrators have to be checked mentally if they are in a healthy state of mind. Marijuana and home-brew is consumed openly in village communities and these kids reaction to feuds in the neighborhood is beyond human control. Something has to be done with such perpetrators in the communities …..

Marijuana becomes one of the root causes of these gruesome killings and even other violences which are happening around the nation at this time. Can govt put a strategy in place to curb these practices like marijuana consumption by youths. Govt please impose a law that would stop marijuana in the country. We are a developing nation and such practices like this is impeding the progress of our good nation. Its people that develops a nation and if we are still in the primitive age, how could we expect our nation to move up… impossible indeed! Madang has now a rogue Province in terms of Criminal offence both local and Madang urban setters. Such happening has been the common across the province. Especially Killing is every where and is no longer safe in Madang. Drug smuggling from the highlands to coastal has the great impact which affect teenagers and return they began robbing the communities. Police need ten time extra effort to minimized this issue. Because it has grown roots. Finally, justice for the women because she turn to save her in which the teenager rapist deserve to die. Justice for lady.
Where are the leaders and MPs of the province? They should have intervened and try to help rescue this province. All MPs should fund more money to conduct awareness campaign against lawlessness in the province. More police activities should be conducted. The devil has taken control of Madang youths through the reckless use of marijuana so Madang’s leaders must start to address this issue seriously now before it gets any worse and affects businesses and service delivery!
My heart bleeds for the lost of life of Nataniel Paya who is my Brother in Law from Karkum village along the NCR of Madang.
An innocent life was taken away by these cold blooded Murderers who deserve to to die in the same way.

From my point of view; there’s a lot of cross road that crisis took it course unto, for instance. Our education system is failing so many youths, Unemployment Crisis – every year so many graduates from different institutions after graduating are seeking jobs but are unfortunate because people are employed through or by wantok or who you know system, greed by academics starting from above like MP’s and downwards, religious leaders take their leadership as mandated and not celibate (celibacy), Business are run by Asean’s and money has been diverted to their countries (ol i kaikai mit na givim mipela bun bilong abus) that is lessening the value of our currecy, corruption disciplinary forces especially police – they socializes with people and get drunk and play some kinds of system that are unlawful, etc. These are some of the issues that also contributes to the uprisings of issues like now, what has been done to Late Nathaniel Paya and his wife. Very Sorry for what has been done.
What an act of BRAVERY for a WOMEN to carry a baby and a lantern and go after her husband’s assailants in the dead of the night and actually KILL one of the assailants. I think this story deserves to make it to the world’s presses.
