A WOMAN charged with sending obscene text messages on her mobile phone to another woman appeared in Waigani Committal Court yesterday.

Magistrate Cosmas Bidar read the charge under the National Information and Communication Act to Eltah Bugley from Kama village, Goroka, Eastern Highlands.

The court heard that Bugley had been sending obscene messages to the woman between March 12 and April 23 last year. Both women are married to the same man.

One of the messages related to the their husband’s private parts.

She was arrested and charged in Port Moresby but failed to appear for mention in court in July last year so a warrant of arrest was issued.

Bugley told Bidar she was misled by her arresting officer to appear at the Boroko District Court and had been checking for her case in Boroko.

The magistrate accepted her explanation and revoked the warrant of arrest and reinstated her K200 bail.

Bugley is expected to appear for mention on March 7.
