CENTRAL police highway patrol yesterday afternoon caught a 30-year-old woman and charged her with allegedly transporting about 10kg of dried marijuana into Port Moresby to sell.
Police said the suspect, from Tapini, Central, was travelling in a PMV and caught near the Doa Rubber Estate.
She was arrested and charged last night under the dangerous drugs Act and was locked up at the Boroko police cell.
Snr Const Rex Pia, who was leading the Hiritano Highway routine patrol, said last night that many people from around the Tapini area were taking loads of drugs into the city but only a few were caught.
Pia said police were now on full alert as the festive season was approaching and advise travellers along the Hiritano Highway to be aware.
He warned youths from the area who are thinking of involving themselves in such activities to refrain as the police will be tough.
