Woman charge with stealing, still working

A WOMAN accused of stealing more than K85,000 from the police and State Services Savings and Loan Society in Waigani, National Capital District, told the Waigani committal court last Thursday that she has not been suspended from work.
“I am still working,” she told Magistrate Rosie Johnson when asked about her employment.
Clementine Hiamboing is charged with a count of stealing K85,248.91 under section 372 (1) of the Criminal Code Act, Chapter 262.
She is an employee of the society.
The court heard that between Oct 18, 2010, and April 20, 2011, at Waigani, Hiamboing allegedly stole money belonging to the society.
The 28 year-old from Kubalia, East Sepik, appeared before Johnson for mention.
She is on K1,000 court bail.
Her case has been adjourned to Oct 9.
