Woman on fishing trip found death

A WOMAN who left home on Monday morning for a fishing trip has beenfound dead near the Lae Tidal Basin project area, police say.
Police found the body of Atako Mufo, 50, from Rebafu village in Siassi, Morobe, near one of the gates to the Lae Tidal Basin project area.
Lae Metropolitan Superintendent Anthony Wagambie Jr said they were investigating the cause of death.
“It is a tragic incident which police are investigating to ascertain what happened and who was in the vicinity when this happened,” he said.
Wagambie said it was a generally safe area frequented by women and children.
“This particular area is commonly used by people living at Papuan Compound,” Wagambie said.
“It’s used mainly for fishing by women and children and occasionally by men. We are calling on the community to assist police in the investigations.”
He warned women and girls not to venture into unfamiliar places.
