A WOMAN was found guilty by the National Court of stealing more than K13,000 from the Manus Treasury office and given a three-year suspended jail term, according to police.
She was ordered to pay the money (K13,050) back within 24 months by Justice Vergil Narakobi.
Manus police commander Chief Insp David Yapu said that between July 2018 and May 2020, the accused “at the end of business each working day, was required to balance up actual cash received against the receipts, write a bank deposit and bank the day’s collection as soon as possible”.
“However between that period of time she failed to deposit a total of K13,050 and converted the money into her personal use,” he said.
