A WOMAN who killed her husband’s lover has been jailed for 12 years, although the judge sympathised with women like her who had to raise families alone while husbands were away enjoying themselves.
National Court judge Justice Jim Wala Tamate sentenced mother-of-four Susan Auri, 45, from Gumine in Chimbu to prison with hard labour for the killing.
The court was told that Auri worked as a security guard during the day and an informal market vendor at night for the past 10 years to look after her children because her husband was not supporting them. “It is an ongoing problem in many marriages today, where mothers are deserted by their husbands who go out and have extra-marital affairs and forget about the wife and children,” Justice Tamate said.
“In the present case, she (Auri) was frustrated by her husband’s behaviour (and negligence) of his parental responsibilities.
“It is also obvious that the deceased played a part in luring her husband away from her.”
The court was told that Auri had gone to her husband to ask him to help her pay their children’s school fees.
But when his lover confronted her, Auri stabbed her on the back and thighs. Justice Tamate said each case must be considered on its own circumstances and the maximum penalty should be reserved for the worst types of murder.
He took into account that Auri gave herself up to police, had expressed remorse and a first time offender, and the sole breadwinner.
The court was also told that Auri’s relatives had paid compensation to the women’s family.
Tamate suspended three years and deducted 19 months and 10 days for the days she had spent in custody.
Auri will spend seven years, four months and 20 days in prison.

  • If only people can reverse their present.

Too late people, make wise decisions at the first place.

Both man na meri and give yourself a better and brighter future.

  • Problem: Death
Cause: Married man : (1) having a partner whilst married.
    (2) not providing for wife and children
    Solution:

    (1) England Solution : Murderer is charged = woman/wife
    (2) PNG Solution: Owner of the problem is charged = Man/husband.

The problem – created by the Husband – has caused the death of the woman (lover). The husband is responsible for the death. The husband should be charged and go to jail.

The wife doesn’t wake up in the morning and say “today I will go and kill Agnes”. She is put in a situation to kill a woman by her Husband. The husband has full ownership of this problem he has created.

Solution: Put the husband in Jail.

………….Why is this clown allowed to walk the streets when he is responsible for the death of a woman”.

  • Sorry Mama ……
The wrong doings cannot be undone. Your acts of taking another person’s life cannot be justified.
Too many of such cases (deaths) are caused by men who marry multiple wives.
I hope the man will take the responsibility of providing for his children for the next 7+ years.
The innocent kids will definitely suffer for the loss of their breadwinner (their mother), I truly feel for them.

  • The husband is the cause of the problem so should not go unpunished. He should bear the responsibility of providing for the children in the next seven years. I also hope The woman will be eligible for parole after 5 years.
