Woman remanded after allegedly stabbing husband to death
A WOMAN accused of stabbing her husband in a Port Moresby guesthouse which led to his death has been remanded at Bomana Prison.
Vero Lucas, 33, of Yomkama village, Gembogl in Chimbu appeared on a wilful murder charge before Magistrate Garry Unjo who adjourned the matter to March 4 for mention.
Police allege that on Oct 7 last year, Lucas and her husband were inside a rented room in a guesthouse at Gerehu where they were discussing land title papers.
An argument broke out between them, with the husband damaging properties in the room. Lucas during a tussle allegedly stabbed him three times.
They stopped fighting and Lucas allegedly gave him some water.
He told Lucas that he was alright and to go and find a taxi.
She took him to the Gerehu Clinic for treatment but doctors pronounced him dead on arrival.
Lucas surrendered herself to police the same day and was detained at the Boroko police station.
Lucas told police that during the fight, she had a kitchen knife but denied stabbing him.
