A WOMAN died after she was stabbed by a man, believed to be her husband, over the weekend in Kimbe, West New Britain, police said.
Provincial police commander Samson
Siguyaru confirmed the report yesterday, saying police were still waiting for her relatives to confirm her identity.
Siguyaru said the woman was chased by a man last Friday night and fled to the Kimbe police station.
He said the woman, who was in her late 30s, stayed with her daughter at the police station until Saturday morning.
He said she then left the police station and was walking to Kimbe market when she was attacked and stabbed.
Police went to the crime scene immediately and rushed the woman to Kimbe hospital but she died on arrival.
Siguyaru said the offender fled after stabbing her and was now in hiding.
CID officers are now investigating the matter to establish cause.
