A WOMAN suffered burns to her body burnt during a fire that destroyed her family home at Kreer village in Wewak, East Sepik, last Thursday.

Ward councillor Jeffery Yapok told The National that the trapped woman, wife of a local level government president, was pulled out of the house by relatives and rushed to the Wewak General Hospital.

“There was an argument between the woman and her husband and suddenly there was fire,” he said.

“The woman and her children were all trapped inside but the kids managed to rush out, leaving the mother behind.”

Yapok said the family lost everything when the semi-permanent building was razed.
