Woman takes over lead

A FEMALE candidate has taken the lead after the second count for the the Madang regional seat.
Mary Kamang, a People’s National Congress candidate, polled 499 votes in count one from the Amebenob local council area.She was tailed by Ricky Kasek Kamung with 383, Sir Arnold Amet 347 and Jim Kas 210 votes.
In count two from the same LLG, Kamang led by 845 votes while Sir Arnold was on 663, Kamung on 576 and Kas with 447 votes.The counting was in progress with box one as Electoral Commissioner Andrew Trawen arrived.
Trawen remained in the counting room until the results were posted on the board.
Trawen also visited the counting venue for the Madang open seat at the Paramed Training College.
Trawen said  Madang and Chimbu were two provinces which began counting yesterday.
The Autonomous region of Bougainville have also begun counting.
