The National Central District Women’s Council dedicated its 2015 programme in a service at the Kirap Bek Lutheran Church yesterday.

Council president Maria Andrew said she believed in women working together  and with churches to carry out programmes and projects to help develop communities.

“There are three electorates and 12 wards in the National Capital District and the council has 21,000 members,” Andrew said.

“The council carries out awareness on health issues such as TB and HIV, domestic and gender-based violence and helps educate women in skills training so they can be self-reliant.”

She thanked the National Capital District Commission for recognising women by supporting the council.

Gene Parkop, the council’s adviser said she believed that women were born leaders and encouraged  them to lead.

Parkop urged women not to feel victimised by issues they faced but take them as challenges.

Pastor Noan Cholai, who conducted the service, told  ward executives that they would face many challenges but the job of a leader was to serve.
