THE PNG Sports Federation and Olympic Committee (PNGSFOC) has suspended the PNG Women’s Bowls Association for 60 days.
It is understood that at the association’s special general meeting (SGM)  last Oct 31, unauthorised persons purporting to represent member associations attended and voted.
The SGM was facilitated by PNGSFOC to bring all parties together, resolve the ongoing issues, adopt a new constitution and elect a new executive.
However, some member associations failed to cooperate and disregarded set procedures.
It also came to the attention of the PNGSFOC executive board that a dispute between factions of the association led to an altercation at the Lae Bowls Club on March 24.
As a result the PNGSFOC at its executive board meeting last month suspended the PNG Women’s Bowls Association for 60 days beginning May 25.
This decision will be reviewed after the suspension lapses and only on the condition that the association satisfies the PNGSFOC that its internal administration has been brought into order.
A properly elected committee must be in control of the national women’s bowls association or the executive board will terminate the association’s membership of the PNGSFOC.
