Women’s council to host day

 THE Hiri Women Council in Central will host the National Women’s Day at Tubusereia in June.

Council president Bono Nakiri said women from Abau, Kairiku Hiri, Goilala, and Rigo districts will also take part in the event. The four districts had already hosted the event.

The event will see women displaying items such as garden food, clay pots, bilums and necklaces which they made using traditional skills.

Nakiri said the items were to show that women had the potential to generate income and that this potential should be recognised. 

She said some wanted to venture into business but lacked funding.
