CHIMBU Governor Noah Kool gave  K10,000 plus a vehicle to the Simbu Women Project Coordination office to  conduct awareness on project management and skills trainings.

Project officer Joanna Bongere said the office was keen to work with the provincial government and administration to promote awareness in the five districts.

“Basic management skills training and sustainability was the aim of the newly established SWPC under the governor’s leadership to cater for women’s issues and to involve them meaningfully in smallholder socio-economic activities,” Bongere said.

The women facilitated a week-long awareness programme last week after Bongere returned from a trainer of trainers course in Port Moresby.

“Twenty women were selected from the districts to attend the project management and skills development training, including basic proposal writing, project submission, cash flow and self-management,” said Bongere.

The training will equip women to participate in small holder projects.

She said women were responsible for the money allocated and the inception of women’s office was a positive step for them.

The launching of the women’s project management and skills development training will be held in August.

Minister for Community Development Loujaya Tony, Attorney-General and Justice Minister Kerenga Kua, Morobe Governor Kelly Naru and Kool are expected to attend.
