THREE women ambassadors and prominent businesswoman Janet Sape will be attending a regional women’s leadership summit in Vanuatu this week.
The three-day summit, which began yesterday in Port Vila, will be the first in the region organised by Global Voices, a non-governmental organisation from the United States and co-funded by the US and the New Zealand governments to advocate business issues faced by women in the region.
The women selected by Global Voices are Investment Promotion Authority human resources and administration manager Anna Marikawa, Westpac Bank financial first step facilitator Rose Henry, a representative from the Department of National Planning, with Women in Business president Sape to present issues on Women’s Economic Empowerment in Papua New Guinea.
Sape said the aim of the PNG delegates was to make polices that would see women progress from the informal to formal sector and become entrepreneurs in their own right.
She said the US government, through secretary of State Hillary Clinton, had recognised what she had done with women in business over the past six years and how she had chosen to mentor and hep young women.
