THE Chimbu Provincial Council of Women is demanding an explanation from the provincial assembly on why women representatives have been overlooked.
Council president Martha Kaiu said from Kundiawa yesterday the council-nominated women in the 18 local level government councils – two in the urban council and one for the provincial assembly – were still waiting to be sworn in.
“What’s the cause of the delay? We want to know because all the elected councillors and presidents have been sworn-in already,” she said.
Kaiu said other women could not be taken on board without the blessing and approval of the women’s council.
“All my women leaders in the districts nominated by the council are still waiting (to be sworn in) and we want to know what the holdup is,” she said.
