TWO women alleged to have benefited financially from the MayBank robbery last month appeared at the Waigani Committal Court yesterday.

Joyce Ramoi, from Aitape, West Sepik, and Janet Agnes John, from Gembogl, Chimbu, were charged with receiving stolen money.

Both women remain in police custody.

They will appear for mention on Feb 4.

The women are alleged to have received K7,400 each on Nov 1 at a residential flat at 2-Mile, in the National Capital District.

Magistrate Cosmas Bidar, who read the charges, said the money was alleged to have come from the armed robbery of MayBank last month in Port Moresby.

Police prosecutions opposed the women’s bail on the basis that both women engaged a lawyer and made a proper bail application with guarantors.

Bidar told the women that police investigations into the robbery would continue.

He told the pair they had a right to a lawyer.
