Women complete coconut products processing training

A GROUP of women in Ramale, Kokopo-Vunamami urban local level government, East New Britain, completed a high value coconut products processing training last week.
It was part of the Kokonas Indastri Korporesen (KIK) programmes rolled out in the province.
KIK national manager of industry capacity building Alfred Nongkas said the Ramale ward women got involved during the Covid-19 awareness programmes.
He said people realised how important a coconut tree was to them and how they could benefit from it.
The provincial government and administration provided four officers to conduct the trainings.
Topics covered included:

  • Introduction to virgin coconut oil, direct micro expelling of coconut oil by drying in the sun;
  • Introduction to flour production;
  • Soap production from coconut oil; and,
  • production of oil for lamps.
