THE Women Doctors Association needs K600,000 from an estimated budget of K1 million to host a medical symposium for at least 800 participants.

Association president Dr Lynda Sirigoi said the committee of women doctors had managed to secure K400,000 through sponsorships and donations.

The NPCP gave K100,000 towards the hosting of the symposium.

“We have already received financial assistance from the National Gaming Board, World Health Organisation, Meddent, Community Development, Brian Bell, EBOs, Telikom PNG and the National Doctors Association,” he said.

Sirigoi said preparation for the meeting was going well.

“Health is affected by education, poverty, access to water and sanitation, law and order and gender,” she said.

“Even though we are talking about health, these are cutting issues they would be discussed during the symposium.”

Sirigoi said a healthy woman would be able to care for her family.
