WOMEN in PNG can contribute significantly to the nation’s development if they strive harder with commitment and dedication in their respective professions.
“As long as we believe in and work towards self-esteem, self-confidence, self-reliance and self-improvement, we will surely be able to stake our leadership in society,” Ramu NiCo Management (MCC) Ltd president Luo Shu said at the 2010 Women in Mining and Petroleum Conference in Madang last Thursday.
She said women in mining impacted areas must strive to be leaders, while mining companies must not only focus on extracting and enhancing the values of the minerals.
“Mining companies must also boost local infrastructure development and contribute positively in local economy.
“Important players in private sectors, like the mining and petroleum industry, need to work with the governments to address social problems,” she said.
“At Ramu NiCo, we are committed to an investment philosophy of ‘win-win’ cooperation and sustainable development.
“The company has carried out economic and social development assistance programmes extensively in project affected areas,” she said.
