Women make good managers
The National, Thursday March 27th, 2014
WOMEN are good managers and can become successful in business, leader Janet Sape says.
Sape, the founder and national president of Women in Business, said while not every woman could be a teacher, nurse or engineer, they would be successful in any business they took part in.
Sape told a group of women celebrating Women’s Day that women were good managers because they were created to produce life on earth, look after and train their children. And this is where their management skills come in.
“Management skills are God-given and women can run this country with the skill we have,” Sape said.
She said a women’s micro-bank to assist women groups set up businesses would be in operation soon. Women can get loans from the bank.
Sape said her team had met the requirements set by the Bank of Papua New Guinea and the Government.
“We have to come up with a reason to celebrate this day and this is one,” Sape said.
Madang women have asked town authorities to reserve a space for the informal sector in the new market under construction.
Lucy Buck, representing the informal sector women’s network, said Madang women were gifted and could do better in the informal business sector if their concerns were addressed.
