THREE young women are on a mission to help university students learn more about God this year.
Tanya Agua, Beautlyn Eliab and Elidah Zzferio completed their studies at the University of Papua New Guinea last year.
Instead of looking for other jobs, they have chosen to join the Student life ministry and will be ministering at the UPNG campus in Port Moresby.
“We believe that when university students build good Christian ethics, they will graduate as God-fearing people,” Agua said.
She said PNG was a Christian nation but ungodly ways and the influence of western cultures had ruin the lives of young people.
“University students are leaders of tomorrow. So if we focus on them today, we will have good honest leaders who value their integrity in the future,” Agua said.
Student life is a university ministry of the Campus Crusade of Christ International and was started at UPNG in 2009. “We go around at UPNG, meet people and tell them about God and his compassionate love for us through Jesus Christ,” she said.
“We invite students for Monday night fellowship that we have weekly at a lecture hall from 7pm to 8pm. We also have conferences in Port Moresby.”
They also preach to high school students in other provinces.
“We present the gospel in a clear way to give students an opportunity to make Christ the centre of their lives – giving them meaning and a purpose in life,” Agua said.
She joined Student life during her first year in 2014 studying Linguistic. She becomes a permanent staff this year.
