THE road to the 2023 World Cup is behind the staging of the Women’s National Soccer League (WNSL) as the national team aim to qualify for the showpiece event, says an official.
WNSL committee member Christine Pakakota made the statement when congratulating all eight Northern Conference teams for taking part in the country’s premier women’s football competition.
“It’s a long road and it’s going to be hard,” she said at the Papua New Guinea Football Association Academy at 11-Mile outside Lae on Saturday.
“But with the calibre of players we have, we believe we can make it.”
While encouraging incumbents of the national team to continue putting their best foot forward for selection, Pakakota said the committee had belief in every WNSL player.
