WOMEN from the Igam Inter-denomination Women’s Fellowship Group are preparing for a soldiers’ wives convention in Wewak, East Sepik.
Vice-president Clara Giregire told The National that this was the second time that women from the barracks would be attending the convention.
The 30 women from the three units in the barracks had been confirmed to attend.
She said the Lae Area women would wear red and green uniforms, the Engineering Battalion women in red and blue and Defence Academy mothers in green and gold.
Giregire said women from Lae attending the convention are excited and looking forward to participating with colleagues from Moem, Lombrum and Port Moresby’s five units – Taurama, Murray, Goldie, Lancron and Kiki Barrack.
“This is a good opportunity to share and exchange ideas on our roles as women and mothers in the barracks,” Giregire said.
Wewak is the main town in East Sepik.
