FORTY-ONE women from Anglimp Lower Kuli Women’s Association in Jiwaka have received certificates after attending a two-week training on starting their own business.
The training was sponsored by the Small and Medium Entrepreneurs Corporation (Smec) to help women start their own business, plus budgeting and management.
The awarding of certificates last Friday was attended by Smec managing director Petrus Ralda who commended the women for completing the training which would guide them to plan their business.
Ralda said the Smec was targeting the 6,112 wards around the country.
“The Government is in full support of the SME sector and is pumping K200 million through its budget,” Ralda said.
“It is doing its part to help and my appeal to the people is to make use of this opportunity.”
“The skills you are learning must be taken as a seed which needs focus and concentration to grow.” He said nothing would change overnight.
“The Smec is targeting the wards at the moment so that people from the remote areas must be given a chance to own and operate a business.
“The members of this association are privilege to learn the skills to guide them.
“Changes will not come easily. You have to work for it and Smec is looking at developing people through business activities.”
