Women’s centre opened in Buka

THE Leitana Nehan Women’s Development Agency opened its human resource development centre in Buka, funded under the Japanese grant for grassroots programme, on Wednesday.
The project was a tripartite collaboration among the Embassy of Japan, the US Embassy and the New Zealand High Commission.
The Embassy of Japan supported the construction of the Human Resource Development Centre while the US Embassy provided support for the organisation’s activities and New Zealand High Commission contributed to some equipment.
The centre was opened by Japan’s deputy chief of mission in Papua New Guinea, Hiroshi Nawata.
The Government of Japan extended a total grant of K202,318.19 towards the centre.
