THE Pacifika Women Network (PWN) Centre in Port Moresby has received a funding of K166,000 from ExxonMobil PNG Ltd as part of its continuous support of local business development.
The funding will go towards the building of additional stalls, including an outdoor market for micro level businesses. Managing director Andrew Barry said the company was always interested in women’s economic empowerment.
He said it believed that when women were empowered, they contributed to change in their families and communities and the economy.
The ceremony was witnessed by women trading at the network’s tarde centre, representatives of the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade and ExxonMobil PNG staff.
The women’s organisation provides a platform for women and girls to promote their signature products and services by bringing out their unique styles through fashion and clothing, health and beauty, arts and crafts and PNG cuisine.
