A WOMEN’s group in Port Moresby has recently opened accounts with the PNG Microfinance Ltd (PML) for them to save money.
National Capital District Women Voice of Change Association president Elice Siki said opening an account with PML did not need many requirements.
Siki told The National the only requirement needed from the association for account opening was their identification cards.
She said the risks of being robbed by opportunists in the city was high.
“The risks of being robbed by opportunist from carrying cash around their bags, hand purse or bilums are high,” she said, adding that PML had solved this issue.
Siki said they could now save money they earned from their little business.
PML marketing officer Edea Hota said more than 200 women had registered since last week and more are registering.
“Five account types can be opened under PML,” Hota said.
“Requirements to opening an account are simple with free unlimited deposits, withdrawals and has the lowest monthly fee of K1.”
