GAS Resources PNG LNG Limited, in partnership with Kairuku-Hiri Netball Association, donated K7,000 worth of office equipment to Country Women’s Association (CWA) in Port Moresby yesterday.
Gas Resources chairman and Kairuku-Hiri Netball president Ulato Avei said the donation was part of the company’s efforts in linking women to CWA and educating them.
“One of the key focus of the company is to empower our women not only in our area but throughout Papua New Guinea as a whole,” she said.
“This is also part of our community obligation to be part of women’s organisations like CWA to help share ideas and empower women.
“Not only am I part of the Gas Resources, but I’m also here as the president of Kairuku-Hiri Netball.
“I’ve brought in my netball executives to get them to understand that this is a facility that they can take advantage of.
“They can register and benefit from this facility where they can attend training courses.
“A woman is capable of learning and developing on her own.
“We’re thankful for this opportunity for us to come and show our support to women.”
Interim CWA vice-president Loi Vele said the equipment would go towards training women at their head office.
“This equipment will contribute to CWA’s operations moving forward, so we are grateful for the donation,” she said.
“It’s the first time for us to get a donation like this and we’re really happy to see this equipment being used by our women.
“It was a chance meeting with Avei who came to our office and saw what it lacked.
“And we’re here now to receive the donation.”
