THE Papua New Guinea women’s national soccer team resumed training at the PNG Football Association Academy in Lae yesterday.
The training will end on Friday as the squad await their overseas-based players to join them for the second camp in Port Moresby in preparation for the Pacific Games in Apia, Samoa, in July.
Coach Frederica Sakette said United States-based Lucy Maino and New Zealand-based Marie Kaipu would join the 28-member squad later.
“Maino has played for PNG in youth tournaments and was also part of the Pacific Games 2015,” Sakette said.
“Her experience in US college football will be a bonus for us.”
“Kaipu will be leaving New Zealand soon to begin training with the squad in the country.”
