FIFTEEN women in Moresby-South have been recognised for their work in their community.
As part of the UN Women’s continuous effort with the National Capital District Commission to make the city a safer place for citizens, especially women, the 15 were recognised as part of National Women’s Day celebrations on March 24.
They played a significant role in their various capacities in churches, schools, clinics and communities in Moresby South.
They included Dorothy Kimia, Kellie Kimali, Christine Tsuga, Josephine Amos, Lama Sarufa, Egg Mua, Tina Peter, Rose Robin Nambo, Merry Pauline Kasman, Monica Auhava, Nonaga Gwalimu, Cecilia Waburi, Kylie Raka and Monica Richard.
They were presented their certificates at an event at Koki market on Tuesday.
UN Women deputy country representative Adekemi Ndieli said National Women’s Day was to recognise the contribution of women as equal partners in PNG.
“National Women’s day is a day when we celebrate the commitment and the contributions that women and girls continue to make to the development of our country,”she said.
