Work begins on school’s computer lab

THE Labu-Butu Primary School wants students to be computer-literate when graduating, says head teacher Kelly Matthew.
A ground-breaking ceremony for a K50,000 computer laboratory was held last Saturday.
Matthew said the Papindo Group of Companies, through its Sunshine Association in Macau, was funding the construction of the laboratory and would donate six computers.
“We are pleased and lucky to be recipients of such a generous donation,” he said.
“We are probably the first school in Huon-Gulf to have our own computer lab.
“The parents and community here are happy for such an opportunity for their children.”
The laboratory will be for all students, especially for those in grade eight.
“It’s our aim that our students learn basic computer skills before moving on to high school,” Matthew said.
Labu-Butu Primary School has 250 students as well as 300 in elementary.
Last year, the Papindo Group of Companies donated two computers, one printer and photocopier and a 5kv solar power kit worth K37,000.
